An exciting opportunity for a dynamic General Manager!

Are you looking for a new challenge? Can you see the potential of the animal health field in Aberystwyth and Wales as a whole? If so, the Wales Veterinary Science Centre (WVSC), an independent diagnostic laboratory in the heart of Wales, is looking for a Centre Manager to help bring its vision to fruition.

Answerable to the Board of Directors and supported by a dedicated Management Team and Staff, you will be responsible for:

  • Management and responsibility of all the Centre activities and ensuring the efficiency, quality and integrity of all that we do.
  • Acting as an ambassador for the WVSC, liaising with stakeholders to maintain and strengthen links and identify new opportunities.
  • Ensuring the requirements of ISO 17025 are met and therefore the effectiveness of the Management System is maintained.
  • Maintaining a healthy and safe workspace for all.

Skills Required:

Essential

  • Knowledge of animal disease legislation in Wales
  • Management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
  • Excellent communication & IT skills
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Motivated and driven

Desirable

  • Welsh language (spoken and written)
  • HR experience
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting
  • Social media and marketing skills
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems

Place of work: Wales Veterinary Science Centre, Y Buarth, Aberystwyth. SY23 1ND.

Terms and Conditions

  • Full time or part time, all possibilities considered.
  • Pro-rata holiday allowance is 20 days plus bank holidays (open to negotiation for the right candidate).
  • 5 hour working day (37.5 hrs/week) but flexibility expected due to seasonality of work.
  • Monday – Thursday 08:30 – 17:00, Friday 08:30 – 16:30 (flexible for the right candidate).
  • Salary according to experience £37,099.00 – 44,263.00 pro-rata.
